Historic Burke Foundation is a non-profit organization chartered in 1982. The Foundation’s purpose is to preserve and restore historic buildings and sites in Burke County and to provide technical assistance to others engaged in preservation. Our goals are to encourage awareness of our heritage and to enhance the character and beauty of our community.
We sponsor the following:
- Museum exhibits
- Workshops
- Historic site visits
- Publications and newsletters
- Educational programs for schools and the community
- Benefit events
Our office is located in the Old Burke County Courthouse that also houses our Heritage Museum. Historic Burke Foundation owns the following historic properties: the McDowell House, Quaker Meadows Cemetery and Belvidere Cemetery.
